Question
Proposing a New Course or Program
Answer

Overview

The Curriculum Management platform allows you to propose a new course or program. The overall process is the same for both; what differs is where you go to get started.

  1. To propose a new course, navigate to Curriculum Management > Courses.

  2. To propose a new program, navigate to Curriculum Management > Programs.

How To Do It

Step 1: Select “+Propose New Course/Program”.

Step 2: Select the form you’d like to use for your proposal, and then click “Submit”.

Step 3:

  • Fill out all “Required” fields (they will have a “required” flag next to them) for Course proposals.

  • You can learn more about creating requirements/requisites here.

  • To use a single proposal to create multiple offerings (courses) in a cross-listed group, see “Submitting One Proposal for Cross-Listings” below.

  • All changes to your proposal will auto-save; if you need to navigate away from the page before you submit your proposal – and need to access your draft later – you can find that at Curriculum > Drafts.

Step 4: When you’re ready, click “Submit Proposal” on the right-hand toolbar under “Actions”.

Step 6: When you’re ready, click “Submit Proposal” on the right-hand toolbar under “Actions”.

Pre-Populating Proposals

Overview

When a user creates a new proposal, they will see a "Pre-populate Data" card at the top of the proposal. This card allows them to select from either an existing proposal or an existing object (i.e. course or program) to pre-populate the form. This can help save you time if your proposal is very similar to an existing course/program or proposal.

Pre-Populate Data from an Existing Proposal

If you wish to use an existing proposal to pre-populate your new one, select “Copy from Proposal”. The following modal will then pop up:

Pre-Populate Data from an Existing Course/Program

If you wish to use an existing course or program to pre-populate your new one, select “Copy from Course” (or “Copy from Program” depending on where you are in the platform). The following modal will then pop up:

Submission Error

When a user attempts to submit a proposal that is invalid, a text alert box will inform the user of the issue; it will include guidance on how to resolve it.
